With Maya Nova, Franz Fertig has created an elegant homage to the trim, yet luxurious, streamlined moderne styles of the Depression.

Indeed, the Maya-Nova looks like something straight out of a glossy late 30’s movie, something a young Kate Hepburn would lounge upon as she tossed languid witticisms at her equally impeccable co-star.

Even so, there are specific portions of this piece that are clearly part of our post-nuclear age.

Maya Nova is supported by solid stainless-steel columns with no taper. The solidity is relieved by a subtle black floater at the bottom, a pad which shifts each column up a fraction of an inch, giving the entire piece a subtle weightlessness.

The covertible lounger is available separately, and well worth it. Not only did Franz Fertig increase the flexibility, but the extra length means the Maya-Nova can easily double as emergency bedding for smaller visitors with no effort.

At the same time, adults are easily accommodated as the unit unfolds to a full Queen-size unit with none of the flimsiness typically associated with convertible furniture. The bed top is several inches lower for easy entrance and egress during the night.

The frame is solid steel with exquisitely ground and finished double-welds. It’s almost a shame these are hidden, but the deep foam and wide variety of upholstery options make it worth it.

Select from an array of fine fabrics and butter-soft leathers. Our particular unit was finished in buff with fine-grained leather carefully prepped to eliminate or minimize any imperfections. Sitting in the Maya Nova is to be enveloped in softness and support as the cushions mold to your body.
