Share a little bit about yourself and what inspires you.
The understanding
I’ve always had an interest in the “power of place” and how the built environment affects our well-being. My educational path shows the evolution that brought a lot of learning that benefited my private and professional life; I studied psychology and interior design and ultimately settled on architecture as a more holistic framework. Truly, the greatest inspiration in my practice is my clientele.
I believe architecture should celebrate the art of living. To make this possible, an architect must be inquisitive and a perpetual learner, so she has the benefit of many tools—old and new—to use on her client’s behalf.
What is your approach today?

Today I take a humanistic and empathic approach to shape environments that enhance the lives of the people who occupy them.

The trail
Understanding their needs for the spaces we design from every angle – especially the human angle – helps to create living and working environments that are truly supportive and fulfilling even beyond stylistic proclivities.
How do you understand and respect different points of view and ways of life?
Problem-solving abilities and more
My understanding of the synergy between people and their environments comes from my love for observing how people around the world respond to – and are impacted by – their surroundings. I’m always observing, even when I travel.
I take the time to document my experiences with sketches, plein air painting, notes, and photography. Whether it’s a visit to an urban location or a completely natural one (particularly at sea).
It’s fascinating to learn from new indigenous sights, sounds, smells, textures, and, of course, flavors. Recording these novel experiences provides me with additional resources to offer clients in unique and thoughtful ways.
